Resolved Regrets
Darcy Hall was back. Damn!
Jake remembered her all too well. It seemed whenever he visited his best friend, Ted, at the White home, Darcy was also there. Since she was the best friend of Ted's younger sister, her presence never surprised him. Her friendliness and outgoing personality had fascinated him. He'd admired her from a distance and never shared his interest in her with anyone. A regret he lived with for years.
His mom mentioned Darcy's return as an aside when she told him of Frank Hall's large lumber order. Her simple comment stunned him for a moment. He sought solace in cutting lumber to come to grips with the news.
The whir of the saw drowned out everything but his thoughts and memories of a girl he never asked out. Perhaps the time had come to resolve his life's biggest regret.
